BW Golden Cart Awards is a flagship annual property of BW Marketing World, a dedicated platform for the marketing and advertising fraternity. In its second year this time, the awards commemorated India’s top ecommerce brands and platforms for their laud-worthy marketing initiatives, which have encouraged them to carve exemplary growth for themselves and take the game a notch higher. The initiative remains relevant to the current times, given the pace at which the ecommerce industry is swelling, especially post two crisis years.

More than 500 ecommerce companies, agencies and professionals were reached out to be a part of this growing initiative. The team received more than 200 entries that after a preliminary screening by the BW Editorial Board, were presented to the jurors. Out of the 58 shortlisted presentations, the jurors adjudged 16 of them as the winners of the BW Golden Cart Awards 2021 for their exemplary contribution to the ecommerce ecosystem. 

Final winners were decided on parameters such as financial viability, market opportunities, business USP, objectives, strategy, implementation and result. 

For this year’s awards, a half-day summit was also organised that housed some of the leading marketers of the country such as Rajesh Ramakrishnan, Managing Director, Perfetti Van Melle India; Pankaj Vermani, Founder & CEO Clovia; Kapil Makhija, CEO, Unicommerce Solutions; Siddharth Dabhade, Managing Director, MiQ and Prabhkiran Singh, Founder & CEO, Bewakoof.com, deliberating on the current-day contours of the ecommerce and D2C industry. 

We do realise that India’s ecommerce growth story is a revolutionary tale in itself. From a handful of brands that existed a decade ago, this sector is expected to grow by 21.5% and hit $74.8b in 2022. Reports also suggest that ecommerce payments in India will rise at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.2% between 2021 and 2025 to hit $120.3b. Key drivers such as the surge in digital adoption, increase in young demography, convenience, relatively better economic performance etc., have only inspirited to make India one of the fastest-growing ecommerce markets in the world. No wonder, India adds 10 million daily active internet users each month.  

The startling numbers are proof of how Indian ecommerce brands are on an upward growth trajectory, redefining how business and engagement with consumers is done. We believe that the BW Golden Cart recognition will help them realise their true potential to nurture this category with utmost grit, grace and gumption in the coming times.
