Ashwath Swaminathan, formerly Chief Growth and Marketing Officer (CGMO) at Swiggy stepped down from the IPO-bound company in September after less than a year in the role, which he had assumed in January.

Swaminathan, a veteran from Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) with nearly 18 years of experience in various leadership positions joined Swiggy as part of a newly created CGMO role following the departures of previous department heads.

The Bengaluru-based food ordering and delivery platform has seen several top-level exits recently. Karthik Gurumurthy, Senior Vice President left to start his own venture, and Anuj Rathi, former Head of Revenue and Growth resigned in September 2023. Additionally, former Chief Technology Officer Dale Vaz left in April 2022.

Swiggy has also brought in new talent in recent months. Dhruvish Thakkar was appointed Assistant Vice President for Revenue and Growth at Swiggy Dineout, following his previous role as Senior Director and Head of Revenue and Marketing at Flipkart. Another addition from Flipkart is Amitesh Jha, who became the CEO of Swiggy Instamart, succeeding co-founder Phani Kishan. Kishan will now oversee Swiggy’s Central Growth unit.

Further strengthening the leadership at Instamart, Sairam Krishnamurthy joined as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), with other high-profile hires following - Himavant Srikrishna Kurnala as Senior Vice President of Product and Business, Aakash Bhotika as Vice President - Technical Advisor, Mayank Rajvaidya as Vice President of Fruits and Vegetables and Manu Sasidharan as Associate Vice President for the FMCG Category.

Swaminathan began his career at Kantar TNS as a Senior Research Executive before moving to Unilever, where he held multiple leadership roles over his tenure.
