Cipla's Vice Chairman and Non-executive Director MK Hamied will step down from his role, effective 29 October 2024.
Hamied's departure, due to age and health reasons concludes nearly 50 years with the pharmaceutical company. His resignation was formalised in a letter dated 3 September 2024, as per reports.
Reflecting on his 47-year tenure, Hamied expressed pride in Cipla’s growth and development. In his resignation letter, he reflected, "These past 47 years at Cipla have been truly a remarkable chapter in my life". He also praised Dr Y K Hamied and his daughter Samina for their key role in advancing the company's professional management.
In the transitional phase, Cipla Board has acted promptly to fill the vacancy by appointing Adil Zainulbhai and Abhijit Joshi as Additional Directors (Non-Executive), effective immediately. Additionally, Kamil Hamied will join the board as a Non-executive Director starting 1 November 2024 to ensure continuity and representation from the promoter family.
