Chief Commercial Officer Ajit Varghese has announced his decision to resign from his post after serving in that capacity for more than two years for Sharechat and Moj, both of which are owned by parent firm Mohalla Tech.
Varghese's departure from the C-suite was announced just three weeks after ShareChat revealed that five per cent of its workforce will be let go.
He closely worked with the company's founders, Ankush Sachdeva and Farid Ahsan, for the course of his two-year employment, and was given the responsibility of launching and leading marketing initiatives for the social media platforms.
Varghese announced his resignation from the company on social media. He took to Linkedin and posted, “As we near the end of 2022, wanted to share with all of you that I am stepping down from ShareChat as the Chief Commercial Officer. An excellent 2 year stint with immense learning, 7X growth, setting up/ expanding revenue, marketing and partnership team by 10X, working collaboratively with a great young cross functional team in content, product and tech vertical, 1000+ advertisers on the platform, the confidence from founders to dream big and play long term, opportunity and patience from clients and agencies to work closely to establish new ecosystem of being no.1 player in the “short video space” (esp post the TikTok ban in India), leverage space of “language audience” of India and creating a new space of “mass market influencer marketing”
After serving as the Global President for Wavemaker for 13 years at the advertising firm WPP, he joined the business.
