Radio Icon Ameen Sayani Passes Away At 91

In the world of Indian broadcasting, iconic radio presenter Ameen Sayani breathed his last on Tuesday night at the age of 91. As per media reports, he succumbed to heart failure.

Sayani embarked on his broadcasting journey as an English broadcaster  but attained immense popularity when he transitioned to hosting in Hindi, particularly with the show 'Geetmala.' His voice and presenting style made him a household name for generations of listeners.

He was known for his signature greeting, 'Bhaiyo or Behno' (Brothers and Sisters).

Sayani's commentary during 'Geetmala' episodes became a defining feature of the show, which first gained fame in 1952 and continued to captivate audiences until 1994. The show's success led to its brief revival in the early 2000s.

Tributes have been pouring in from all corners of the country.
