Under Elon Musk’s leadership social media platform Twitter is all set to revise its verification process.
The de facto Twitter chief tweeted that Twitter was looking at revamping the account verification process. He did not provide details on the matter.
"Whole verification process is being revamped right now", Musk said in his tweet.
The blue tick mark on Twitter verifies the identity of an account on the social media platform.
There are media reports that the social media platform might be looking at charging for the account verification process. These reports indicate that an account holder would have to subscribe to the premium subscription service Twitter Blue at USD 4.99 per month or lose out on the coveted blue tick mark (verified badges).
According to a report by the technology newsletter Platformer, Musk has not made a final decision of executing the plan for verification.
On Sunday, The Verge reported that Twitter was looking to increase the subscription price for Twitter Blue from USD 4.99 to USD 19.99 per month.
Twitter Blue was launched last year to offer exclusive access to premium features on a monthly subscription basis including an option to edit tweets.
