Cricket fans across the country are geared up to support their favourite team, and so is Alexa. Alexa can now tell the latest match updates including schedules, scores, team sheets, player stats, and enable a skill to access live commentary, and player stats.
Here’s a glimpse of how Alexa can be your buddy this cricket season:
Listen live commentary
This skill comes to Alexa for the first time by Digital2Sports, a joint venture between One Digital Entertainment and Channel2Group, which is also the official audio rights holder for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This skill is available for free across different devices including Echo smart speakers, Fire TV, Alexa mobile app, and even the Amazon shopping app (Android). To tune in, just say “Alexa, start live cricket commentary”.
Get updates on team India
Just ask “Alexa, remind me when India's match starts” or “Alexa, when is India’s next match” and never miss a game. Even if you forget to tune in, you can always ask “Alexa, who won today’s match?”.
Keep a track of schedules
Keeping track of the team’s fixtures just got easier. Just ask “Alexa, which teams are playing tomorrow?”, “Alexa, what is today’s match?”, this way you know when to schedule your watch party. Alexa can also tell you about much-awaited matches like “India vs Pakistan”. Just ask “Alexa, when is India vs Pakistan match?” and gear up for some intensity.
Ask for match stats and trivia
Unsure about the starting 11 from team India or the opposing teams? Simply ask “Alexa, who are the players for today's match?” or “Alexa, who is the captain of New Zealand?”. To know more about which team won the toss, just ask “Alexa, which team won the toss?”
Once the match is complete, Alexa can also give you information about the man of the match, leading run-scorer and wicket-taker. Just say “Alexa, who won the man of the match?” or “Alexa, how many wickets have Pakistan team taken” or “Alexa, how many runs have Sri Lanka team scored”. You can even check the table standings by asking “Alexa, which team is at the top of the points table”.
As and when the match proceeds toward the final stages, you can ask “Alexa, which teams are playing the semi-finals 1?” or “Alexa, which teams are playing the final?”
Get data-driven match insights
For the die-hard cricket fans who want to stay a step ahead, Singapore-based data analytics firm TV Conal has launched a skill on Alexa that uses information from historical matches to analyse the current ongoing matches. Just say, “Alexa, ask Cricket Predictor, how much will Australia score”, “Alexa, ask Cricket Predictor who will take the next wicket” or “Alexa, ask Cricket Predictor who will be the top scorer.”
Play Daily Cricket Trivia
Daily Cricket Trivia is a cricket quiz. Answer daily questions on Cricket by choosing between three options. For the correct answer, you score 6 runs. Every wrong answer is a delivery wasted, giving others a chance to go higher up the leaderboard. To start, just say “Alexa, start Daily Cricket Trivia”.
