Flipkart Internet generated nearly Rs 5,000 crore in advertising revenue for 2023-2024, up from Rs 3,324.7 crore the previous year, according to a report citing business intelligence firm Tofler.
Flipkart's marketplace division reported a total revenue of Rs 17,907.3 crore for the fiscal year, marking a year-on-year increase of nearly 21 per cent while its losses dropped by 41 per cent to Rs 2,358 crore. This marks the second consecutive year that Flipkart Internet has achieved over 20 per cent growth alongside reduced losses.
The Walmart-owned company recorded Rs 3,734 crore in marketplace fee income, a slight increase from Rs 3,713.2 crore the previous year. Income from collection services rose to Rs 1,225.8 crore from Rs 1,114.3 crore, with advertising revenue reportedly surpassing other marketplace fees.
Flipkart's revenue growth and decline in losses reflect CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy's emphasis on profitability. The company's extensive restructuring efforts have contributed to lower operational costs, which has positively impacted its financial health, the report added.
Flipkart's marketplace division primarily generates revenue through seller commissions, advertising, and various fees for seller services.
