Consumers Cast Doubt On Mamaearth Products; Ghazal Alagh Reacts

A user named Aditi (@Sassy_Soul_) posted a photo of a collection of Mamaearth face washes, urging people to discard them if encountered

After coming under the scrutiny of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) on account of misleading and unethical advertising, Mamaearth’s troubles don’t seem to have faded away, as yet.

On 2 June, a user named Aditi (@Sassy_Soul_) with a follower count exceeding 80K posted a photo of a collection of Mamaearth face washes, urging people to discard them if encountered.

In her post, she mentioned, "If you see these products anywhere, immediately pick them up, throw them in the dustbin, and run away.”

In response, Ghazal Alagh, Co-founder, Mamaearth, retaliated against her post. She wrote, “Just sorry you woke up with a lot of hate. I hope you feel better soon. I would have loved to address if there was a problem. But I couldn’t find any apart from you hopping onto a Twitter trend and finding a picture of the products.”

Alagh continued, “Quality on Mamaearth is my personal guarantee, and I am here to address each and every concern that you, or anyone on Twitter might have. I am DM away and if any of my consumers have feedback or issue with any Mamaearth product, I will get back to them.”

In a separate tweet, Aditi expressed her various concerns regarding Mamaearth's products, labelling them as ineffective. She pointed out, “Myself, my family members, and friends have used your products, and I haven't seen even one product working effectively. Everyone wasted their hard-earned money, and some have been using them for years. What's the point of spending money on products that don't work at all?"

She added, “You guys can't handle honest reviews from customers, so you asked which products I have a problem with and said you would change them. I want to tell you that all your products are terrible, you should change all of them.”

The post featured a divided reply section, with one portion defending Mamaearth and its products, while the other echoed Aditi's sentiments.
