The online video sharing app, YouTube announced on Monday that its creative ecosystem contributed over Rs 10,000 crore to the Indian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and helped more than 7,50,000 full-time equivalent jobs in the country in 2021.
The company also notified that courses, a new upshot to bring a prosperous understanding for viewers and a new way to monetise for makers, would start rolling out in beta in 2023. According to the latest Oxford Economics study by YouTube, billions of people devour content powered by YouTube creators in India globally. This has helped creators open monetisation possibilities, letting many transform their passions into sustainable careers.
Ishan John Chatterjee, Director, India, YouTube, conveyed that the platform would keep investing in the paths to enable viewers to discover beneficial skills and acquire the key to the knowledge that helps them achieve their potential and pursue their goals.
YouTube stated that it would build up efforts to work with more healthcare institutions, like Narayana, Manipal, Medanta, and Shalby, to create and increase credible content encircling more than a hundred medical conditions across Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali, and English. It would endorse partners to accomplish scale and efficiency in making multilingual content.
The company also reported that next year, the qualified creators in India can start offering free or paid courses to deliver in-depth, structured understandings for viewers. The courses will not only support prosperous learning experiences for audiences but also offer creators a new monetisation option.
