Wipro Ropes In Srini Pallia As CEO: Who Is He?

Wipro has named Srini Pallia as its new chief executive officer (CEO). Pallia comes with a 32-year tenure at Wipro and previously spearheaded the Americas-1 unit within the organisation.

His extensive experience and leadership within Wipro make him a natural choice for this critical role. The announcement follows the departure of Thierry Delaporte, who served as Wipro's CEO for four years. Delaporte's exit comes amidst ongoing criticisms of Wipro's performance and a series of high-profile leadership changes. He left the company on Saturday, marking the end of his tenure.

Srini Pallia's journey within Wipro has been characterised by a diverse range of roles, showcasing his deep understanding of the company's operations. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Pallia held positions such as president of the consumer business unit and global head of business application services.

“Srini is an ideal leader to lead Wipro at this pivotal moment for our company and industry. His client-centric approach, growth mindset, strong execution focus, and his commitment to Wipro's values, make him the perfect fit as we enter the next chapter of growth and profitability,” Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji said in a statement.

Pallia's educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master's in management studies from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru. He has also undergone executive programs at renowned institutions such as Harvard Business School and McGill Executive Institute.

Wipro's decision to appoint Pallia as the new CEO comes at a critical juncture for the company. Amidst challenges and transitions, his leadership is expected to steer Wipro towards growth and success in the competitive market landscape.

The departure of Thierry Delaporte, who had joined Wipro from the Capgemini group, underlines the dynamic nature of leadership within the company. Delaporte's 25-year-long stint at Capgemini, including his tenure as CEO, added significant value to Wipro during his time as CEO.
