According to a study by Insider Intelligence on Tuesday, social media network Twitter Inc. will experience a user exodus as a result of adjustments being implemented by new owner and CEO Elon Musk and flat revenue growth over the following two years.
Following the termination of almost half of its workforce, including those responsible for content moderation, experts and users have expressed worries about Twitter's capacity to combat misinformation.
"Users will start to leave the platform next year as they grow frustrated with technical issues and the proliferation of hateful or other unsavory content," said Jasmine Enberg, Principal Analyst, Insider Intelligence.
According to the analysis, Twitter, which went private in October, will lose more users in the US than any of the other nations that Insider Intelligence monitors, with monthly users falling to 50.5 million in 2024, the lowest level since 2014.
As a result of revenue and staffing losses, the market research firm predicted that Twitter's revenue growth will stagnate for the next two years, making it more challenging for Musk to release new products that will boost usage and engagement on the site.
In November, Musk blamed a huge decrease in revenue on civil rights organisations that had persuaded businesses to halt their Twitter advertising. About 90 per cent of the social media company's income comes from selling adverts.
