Twitter Announces ‘Blue For Business’ As Latest Feature

Micro-blogging platform Twitter on Monday announced Blue For Business as a new feature that will allow businesses to verify and distinguish themselves on Twitter.

The service will allow the companies to link their main accounts with those of their employees to make it easier to show that someone actually works for them.

Esther Crawford, director of product management at Twitter tweeted, “We’re launching the pilot of Blue for Business so beginning today you’ll start seeing company badges on select profiles. We’ll soon be expanding the program and look forward to having more businesses added in the new year.”

The company’s plan is visible and direct, where they are trying to generate more revenue through a subscription model. The company has listed examples of the types of use cases it expects to see for Blue for Business including sports teams affiliating with their athletes, movie characters getting a logo next to their name, or journalists having a badge that shows they really do work for a specific outlet.

Musk’s Twitter is also rolling out a new grey checkmark badge for government and multilateral accounts. It is already visible on the official accounts of the White House and Central Government ministries of India.
