Rob Gilby, CEO of Dentsu APAC, discussed how India can contribute to the Web3 digital economy and realize its 1 trillion USD digital economy vision by 2025 at the Dentsu and E4M, Digital Advertising Report 2023, unveiling event in Mumbai. This was done in light of the country's 5G rollout.
“This is the start of a whole new phase, the incredible India opportunity," said Rob Gilby, emphasising India as a continent rather than a country that gives an amazing platform for technology, digitalisation, engineering, commerce, finance, and more. But still, the country continues to lack a stronger role on the global platform, he added.
He expressed how excited he was when the center announced the ‘Digital India’ mission and stated the 5G launch is likely to bring a great digital transformation in the country. He said India will soon lead the world with its digital revolution in the coming years.
Gilby further underlined that the metaverse is the future of digital media and commerce. The CEO continued, "As the next-generation internet, the metaverse consists of persistent, shared spaces linked with interoperability, providing a fully operational economy and open access."
He identified the metaverse as the presentation of Web3, and its layers—experience, discovery, creator economy, spatial computing, decentralization, human interface, and infrastructures—as its building blocks.
Gilby focused everyone's consideration on web 3.0 principles like value exchange, self-sovereign identity, and decentralisation.
He predicted a bright digital future for India and assured Dentsu’s complete support through investments in gaming studios, AR/VR, NFTs, virtual entertainment, events, and metaverse/VR experiences.
