NP Singh, Managing Director and CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) addressed his colleagues for the final time on Friday evening. The farewell marked the end of Singh's 25-year journey with the company.
Singh's farewell speech expressed profound gratitude towards his colleagues, acknowledging that his accomplishments were made possible by the support of his family, team and employees. Singh emphasised how the daily interactions with staff which motivated him to come to work each day.
The departing CEO took the time to personally acknowledge the office support staff, naming them individually and recounting memorable anecdotes. The farewell saw SPNI employees, along with General Counsel Ashok Nambissan, Chief Financial Officer Nitin Nadkarni and Neeraj Vyas, Business Head for Sony Entertainment Television, Sony SAB, PAL and the Sony MAX movie cluster, bid Singh an emotional goodbye.
Singh's decision to step down, reported on May 24 comes after a career spanning nearly 44 years, with 25 years dedicated to SPNI. He expressed his readiness to transition from operational roles to advisory ones, focusing on driving social change. Despite his departure, Singh reaffirmed his commitment to SPNI's continued success and growth under new leadership.
Singh's journey with Sony began in 1999 when he joined as Chief Financial Officer. Over the years, he took on roles of increasing responsibility, including Chief Operating Officer, before becoming Managing Director and CEO in 2014.
Gaurav Banerjee, who is set to take over as the new leader of SPNI, was not present at the farewell ceremony but is expected to assume his new role on Monday, as per media reports.
