On 19 December, Hyundai Motor India reappointed Unsoo Kim as Managing Director for a three-year term, effective 25 January 2025.
The Creta-maker's board of directors approved Kim's reappointment, as stated in an exchange filing on Thursday.
Kim has been associated with Hyundai Motor Company since 1991 and Hyundai Motor India since 2002. Under his leadership, Hyundai India completed its initial public offering earlier this year, marking the largest IPO in Indian history. Before assuming his current role, Kim served as Executive Vice President - Global Operations at Hyundai Motor Company.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) reported a 7 per cent year-on-year decline in total sales for November 2024, with 61,252 units sold, comprising 48,246 domestic sales and 13,006 exports. This was a decrease from October 2024, where HMIL recorded total sales of 70,078 units, reflecting a 1.96 per cent growth compared to October 2023, when sales stood at 68,728 units.
In November 2024, SUVs remained a key driver of domestic sales, contributing 68.8 per cent to the total. Additionally, HMIL achieved its highest-ever rural sales contribution, accounting for 22.1 per cent of domestic sales, underscoring the company’s growing penetration in India’s rural markets.
The introduction of Hy-CNG Duo technology further boosted CNG vehicle sales, which constituted 14.4 per cent of the total sales during the month.
