NBCUniversal & JioCinema Partners To Deliver Peacock Content To Indian Viewers

NBCUniversal (NBCU) and JioCinema confirmed a multi-year partnership that would bring thousands of hours of NBCU films and television programmes to India. The collaboration expands JioCinema's programme offering and ensures that its viewers can experience titles from NBCU's content inventory.

Comcast NBCUniversal's powerhouse production entities and brands, including Universal Television, UCP, Universal International Studios, Universal Television Alternative Studio, Sky Studios, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Pictures, Focus Features, Bravo, and others, will power the portfolio.

Beginning next month, NBCU programmes will be available in a peacock-themed hub on JioCinema's recently announced 'JioCinema Premium' SVOD tier. Critically acclaimed dramas and comedies from NBCU’s vast library, including Downton Abbey, Suits, The Office, Parks and Recreation, and The Mindy Project, are also a part of the deal.

JioCinema's reach and expertise will be used to introduce Indian fans to the Peacock brand and NBCU's library, while JioCinema's position as the leading OTT provider in the market will be enhanced by a volume of films and series from NBCU. Moreover, JioCinema's SVOD lineup will include streaming premieres of films from the Hollywood company, which has already grossed more than $2 billion at the global box office.

Movies from the Despicable Me/Minions and Fast franchises, including the released Fast X, as well as The Super Mario Bros. Movie and the anticipated IMAX-shot thriller Oppenheimer from Christopher Nolan, will also be heading to the service in the future.
