Following a controversy over remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the state's milk cooperative, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday rejected a merger between the state's well-known dairy brand Nandini and Amul. In response to a question, he addressed Congress state president D K Shivakumar's concern that Nandini and Gujarat's Amul would be combined as a result of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah's visit to Nandini's Mandya facility.
According to Bommai, Nandini will continue to have a distinct identity for the coming hundreds of years. "The merger of Nandini with Amul is a wrong imagination. What to say about those who comment on based on their whims and fancies?" the Chief Minister told reporters.
According to Bommai, Shah had made it clear that Nandini and Amul will collaborate in the fields of technology and marketing.
Shah stated that although these two significant businesses should complement one another, a merger is not necessary. For hundreds of years, the Nandini brand will continue to exist separately, explained Bommai.
The Chief Minister claimed Shah had mentioned there would be advantages if both companies collaborated in a certain industry.
According to Bommai, Nandini or Amul can share their best practices and knowledge in particular fields like technology or administration.
"The Union Minister's statement must not be misunderstood and politicised. As a Chief Minister, I am saying that the Nandini brand will be a separate identity forever," told the Chief Minister.
