The Maharashtra government has proclaimed that advertisements can now be shot on government-owned land free of charge.
The decision, outlined in a government resolution (GR) issued on Saturday, underscores the state's commitment to supporting the film industry. It is expected to facilitate the production of advertisements, movies and documentaries by eliminating the financial burden associated with location shooting on government properties.
According to the GR, producers will no longer incur fees for filming on government-owned land, marking a departure from previous practices. Instead, a streamlined single-window clearance process will be implemented to expedite the approval process for shooting permits.
While no charges will apply for filming, producers will be required to submit a security deposit as per the guidelines specified in the GR. Advertisements will necessitate a security deposit of Rs 40,000, while TV serials will require Rs 1 lakh and films will require a security deposit of Rs 2.5 lakh.
