Swiggy Increase Ad, Promotional Spending By 4X In FY22: Report

In comparison to FY21, Swiggy spent nearly four times as much on advertising and promotional costs in FY22, as per the platform Tofler. 

From Rs 570 crore in FY21, the platform's spending increased by almost four times to Rs 1,848.70 crore.

In October of this year, Swiggy released its "Why is it a Swiggy ad?" campaign. In April, the firm additionally unveiled four IPL 2022 television commercials. It released a South Indian-focused advertisement featuring R Madhavan and Simran in November which created a stir. 

The platform's operating revenue increased by 124 per cent, or more than double, to Rs 5,704,90 crore in FY22. In addition, losses for the platform increased from Rs 1,616.90 crore in FY21 to Rs 3,628.90 crore at the same period. Platform service revenue increased from Rs 1,879 crore in FY21 to Rs 3,444 crore in FY22. 

Revenue from the sale of FMCG goods and groceries increased to Rs 2,036 crore from Rs 517 crore. Food sales brought in Rs 88 crore, an increase from Rs 83 crore in the prior year.

This year, the food delivery app substantially invested in Instamart, its grocery delivery service, which is what caused the platform's sales of groceries and FMCG to soar.
