Media baron and founder of Ramoji Film City, Ramoji Rao, is no more. He was 87.
Ramoji Rao passed away early on June 8. He was hospitalised on June 5 and was undergoing treatment, as per media reports.
Rao was the founder of Eenadu Newspaper and ETV Network. He was also a prominent figure in Telugu politics.
Ramoji Rao was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan in 2016.
He was also a filmmaker with several hits under his belt.
Several political leaders, including Narendra Modi, and other personalities paid their tributes to Ramoji Rao.
"I had a privilege of meeting him in person. Ramoji Rao was a simple soul who believed in total transparency. Besides journalism, Rao sahab will be remembered for envisaging state of the art Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. May God rest soul in peace! Om," shared an industry leader.
