The professional networking site Apna.co said that between July and September 2024, the e-pharma companies increased their job postings for women. Due to increased government funding for public healthcare and commercial organisations' expansion of healthcare services in underserved Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, e-pharma companies like Pharmeasy, Tata 1mg, and Apollo Pharmacy targeted female healthcare workers. The 35 per cent increase in jobs within this time frame highlights this growth.
Over the last three months, a variety of career options for women have been made available by healthcare providers such as Medplus, Tata 1mg, Pharmeasy, Wellness Forever, Vijaya Diagnostics, Medkart, Apollo Pharmacy, and Portea Medical.
Of the 40,000 recent healthcare job posts, Apna.co found that almost 60 per cent of them targeted female employees. In tier-1 cities, the job posting increased by 35 per cent, while in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, it increased by 50 per cent.
In the last three months, tier 2 and tier 3 cities like Jaipur, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Indore, and Nagpur opened 18,000 job advertisements, compared to 22,000 in tier 1 cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
While the demand for nurses, attendants, medical representatives, pathologists, and lab technicians has increased in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, women were employed in tier-1 cities for such as pharmacists, optometrists, dental assistants, and operation theatre technicians.
"As healthcare services expand into tier 2 and tier 3 cities, driven by population growth, urbanisation, and increased healthcare awareness, the demand for female healthcare professionals continues to rise, making essential services more accessible nationwide," the job networking platform noted.
India’s private healthcare sector is expected to add eight million jobs by 2030.
