Laxman Narasimhan Officially Takes Over As Starbucks CEO: Reports
Laxman Narasimhan, an executive of Indian descent has formally taken over as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the multinational coffee company Starbucks.
With this appointment, Narasimhan has joined the growing group of business professionals with Indian heritage who is in charge of significant multinational firms.
Starbucks had previously said that Narasimhan will succeed as the company's future CEO and a member of the Starbucks Board of Directors in September of last year.
Following a global search for a new CEO to succeed business founder and current CEO Howard Schultz, Narasimhan joined Starbucks as the firm's new CEO on 1 October 2022, after relocating from London to the Seattle area.
“Effective today, Laxman Narasimhan has assumed the role of chief executive officer and will join the company’s board of directors. As he ascends into the role, Narasimhan will continue engaging the leadership team, sharing his early learnings and insights and assessing opportunities for the company as they chart a path forward,” the company said in a statement.
Narasimhan joins Starbucks with nearly 30 years of experience managing multinational consumer goods businesses and giving advice to retailers, food distributors, restaurants and ecommerce businesses.

The business stated that he had spent the previous five months travelling to work alongside employees in more than 30 stores, manufacturing plants and support centres throughout the world, earning his barista certification, as he moved.

In addition to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna, Narasimhan's appointment increased the number of CEOs of major international corporations who are of Indian heritage.
