Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL) reported a 3.2 per cent rise in advertising and publicity expenses, reaching Rs 330.82 crore in Q1FY25, up from Rs 320.39 crore in Q1FY24. The company also saw a 41.36 per cent increase in consolidated profit after tax, totalling Rs 450.69 crore for the June quarter of FY25, due to lower raw material costs.
The company reported total revenue from operations of Rs 3,331.58 crore for the quarter, down from Rs 3,448.91 crore in the same period last fiscal year. According to a regulatory filing, total expenses for the first quarter decreased to Rs 2,744.36 crore from Rs 2,956.36 crore a year earlier. The cost of raw materials including packaging fell to Rs 1,289.68 crore from Rs 1,641.25 crore.
The company also revealed plans to enter the pet care market via one of its subsidiaries, anticipating strong double-digit growth for this new venture over the coming decades. "GCPL will invest Rs 500 crore over five years in one of its subsidiary companies," said the company.
GCPL's revenue from its India business increased to Rs 2,162.93 crore, up from Rs 2,005.48 crore in the same period last year.
