Given the recent reports of illegal circulation of e-papers of Times of India and Navbharat Times, the Delhi HC has ordered to prohibit them on platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram. The court has explicitly commanded the administrators of the groups to restrict electronic circulations immediately.
Earlier, BCCL had filed a plea requesting to stop sharing the e-papers, owing to copyright infringement. Justice Jayant Nath, who presided over the matter, backed the plaintiff and favourably granting the group ad-interim injunction.
Nath also pointed this illegal practice by the platforms, that were defying various measures taken by BCCL under the garb of providing online services.
BCCL also mentioned that despite serving a notice to WhatsApp, the illegal circulation of the papers continued.
