Cabinet Promotes Anurag Thakur As I&B Minister

Post Prakash Javadekar's resignation, Anurag Thakur has been named as the new Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the Narendra Modi government. Alongside, he has been appointed as the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister. He will take charge from today.

Thakur took to Twitter to express gratitude:


In a major cabinet reshuffle, Thakur replaced Kiren Rijiju as the country's sports minister with just over two weeks left for the Tokyo Olympics.

For the unversed, Thakur has served as the president of the BCCI between May 2016 and February 2017. He previously served as the minister of state for finance and corporate affairs under Nirmala Sitharaman.

Thakur has been a four-time BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh.
