Zee Media's CEO Abhay Ojha Steps Down

Abhay Ojha, Chief Executive Officer of Zee Media Corporation has resigned from his position with immediate effect. His departure became effective as of the afternoon of May 4.

"We hereby inform you that the Board of Directors at their meeting held today  has approved and confirmed the cessation of employment of Abhay Ojha from the organisation  and his consequent cessation as the Chief Executive Officer of the Company with effect from May 4, 2024," the company said in a press note.

Ojha took the news to his LinkedIn stating, "As of this weekend, I have stepped down from my role as CEO at Zee Media by sending a formal resignation. The decision came after a profound conversation with the promoter on Saturday at 8 PM, which led to my resignation."

In his post, he shared that the critical nature of his role and his impending shift to a competitor necessitated an immediate handover, despite his original terms of appointment including a notice period.

"Consequently, the management instructed one of the senior leaders to visit my residence at 10:30 PM to collect the company assets, including my laptop.

It's important to address that I continued to fulfill my responsibilities, signing off on the company's banking documents up until 5 PM on that same day", he said in his post.

Initially, Ojha assumed the role of Chief Business Officer and P&L Head of linear channels (excluding WION and Zee Business) at Zee Media in 2022. He was subsequently elevated to the position of CEO in 2023.
