The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has once again enraptured cricket enthusiasts worldwide with its enthralling matches and stellar performances. This year's competition showcased intense rivalries, with numerous players and teams leaving a lasting impression through their remarkable achievements.

JioCinema, the streaming platform, experienced a significant surge in audience engagement during the IPL 2024 season. With a staggering 38 per cent increase, the platform reached 620 million viewers, up from 449 million in the previous season. Additionally, JioCinema witnessed a 53 per cent growth in video views, amounting to a total of 2,600 crore, along with an impressive 35,000 crore minutes of watch time.

Winners Lining Up

Champions of the IPL 2024 season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) claimed victory with their display of skill and teamwork. They earned the prestigious title for the third time. As winners, KKR received a prize of Rs 20 Crore for their remarkable achievement.

The runners-up in IPL 2024, Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH), received commendation for their strong performance throughout the tournament. They demonstrated impressive talent and determination, earning them a prize of Rs 13 Crore for their achievement as the second-place team.

Virat Kohli's batting prowess secured him the Orange Cap in IPL 2024, as he emerged as the highest run-scorer of the season with an impressive tally of 741 runs in 15 matches. His consistent and dominant performances were a standout feature of the tournament, earning him a prize of Rs 10 lakh.

Harshal Patel, the pacer from Punjab Kings, claimed the Purple Cap in IPL 2024 by securing the highest number of wickets in the season. With a tally of 24 wickets in 14 matches, Patel's bowling prowess earned him the coveted title and a prize of Rs 10 lakh.

Sunil Narine, the spinner from KKR, made history in IPL 2024 by becoming the first player to win the ‘Most Valuable Player’ award three times. He scored 488 runs and took 17 wickets. For this feat, Narine was awarded a prize of Rs 10 lakh.

Narine was also honoured with the ‘Fantasy Player of the Season’ award for IPL 2024, recognising his consistent performance and substantial impact in fantasy leagues throughout the tournament. This accolade earned him a prize of Rs 10 lakh.

In IPL 2024, batters showcased their expertise, and Travis Head emerged as a standout performer by leading the charts for the most fours in the season. His ability to find gaps and score runs efficiently was evident as he struck 64 fours and accumulated 567 runs across 15 matches. For this feat, Head was awarded a prize of Rs 10 lakh.

Abhishek Sharma, representing Sunrisers Hyderabad, claimed the title for the most sixes in IPL 2024. His performance saw him amass 484 runs in 16 innings, with a strike rate of 204.2. Sharma's display of power hitting included smashing 42 sixes, solidifying his reputation as one of the premier hitters in the tournament. For this achievement, Sharma was awarded a prize of Rs 10 lakh.

Ramandeep Singh was awarded the ‘Catch of the Season’ in IPL 2024 for his fielding display against LSG. Introduced in 2013, this award acknowledges the most spectacular fielding moments throughout the tournament, underscoring Singh's contribution. For his outstanding catch, Singh received a prize of Rs 10 lakh.

Jake Fraser-McGurk was honoured as the ‘Electric Striker of the Season’ in IPL 2024 for his explosive batting performance, boasting an impressive strike rate of 234.04. This award recognises the fastest run-scorer in T20 cricket, highlighting Fraser-McGurk's ability to accelerate the scoreboard with aggressive batting. For his exceptional contribution to his team's success, he was awarded a prize of Rs 10 lakh.

Nitish Kumar Reddy was awarded the ‘Emerging Player of the Season’ in IPL 2024 for his performances as a young talent. The 21-year-old from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) scored 303 runs at an average of 33.67 and a strike rate of 142.92, showcasing his skill throughout the tournament. For his achievements, Reddy received a prize of Rs 10 lakh.

Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad was honoured with the ‘Best Pitch and Ground Award’ for the IPL 2024 season. This recognition comes with a prize of Rs 50 lakh, acknowledging the stadium's excellent playing surface and top-notch facilities that ensured high-quality matches throughout the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) received the ‘Fair Play Award’ for the IPL 2024 season, highlighting their sportsmanship and discipline. Recognised for maintaining the spirit of cricket, SRH earned 173 points across 17 matches, averaging 10.18 points per match. For this achievement, they were awarded a prize of Rs 10 lakh.

Across the 17 years that the IPL has been running, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have emerged as winners five times, each. Following this number, Kolkata Knight Riders is close behind with a victory count of three. Deccan Chargers, Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals have picked up the award once, each.

As one of the world's premier T20 leagues, the IPL transcends sport in India, becoming an emotion that unites millions of fans with unmatched passion and excitement.
