In one of its recent notifications, the Press Council of India (PCI) has encouraged print media outlets to run employment-related adverts, while abiding by journalistic standards of behaviour.
PCI has advised them to verify the credibility of companies, organisations, individuals, or institutions by conducting appropriate due diligence before accepting job postings from private companies or through government or semi-government schemes or programmes.
The purpose of this action is to shield the unemployed young people who may be easily trapped in such fraudulent activities.
“Newspaper organisations must have a proper advertisement booking policy in place to contain misleading advertisements,” PCI mentioned.
