Indian Youth Congress Issues Legal Notice To Sudhir Chaudhary: Reports

Sudhir Chaudhary, Consulting Editor of Aaj Tak, has been issued with a legal notice by the Indian Youth Congress for allegedly defaming party leader Rahul Gandhi.

According to the notice, civil and criminal procedures will be started against the channel and the anchor unless they remove the video from all platforms, broadcast an unconditional apology from the channel, and post it on Twitter.

The notice reads, “You have deliberately and maliciously compared Mr. Rahul Gandhi with someone accused and caught for an offence of robbery even though you are fully aware that Mr. Gandhi has been raising his objections to the offence committed by Nirav Modi and is seeking accountability from the Government of India."

The legal notice, which was sent on Sunday, also stated that the channel's official Twitter handle had shared a video of a clip from Sudhir's programme 'Black and White,' in which he is seen comparing Rahul Gandhi to someone who has been accused and convicted of robbery.

The notice also mentions the anchor's comments made hours after Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as an MP after being convicted in a defamation case. It points to what “appears to be a well-crafted conspiracy initiated at the behest of Mr Gandhi’s political opponent”, it read.

Following the Indian Youth Congress's legal notice to Sudhir Chaudhary, Consulting Editor, Aaj Tak, for allegedly defaming party leader Rahul Gandhi, Chaudhary went to Twitter to react. He writes, “I am fighting for the voice of India. I am ready to pay any price.”

According to the notice, civil and criminal procedures will be started against the channel and the anchor unless they delete the video from all platforms, broadcast an unconditional apology from the channel, and post it on Twitter.
