There was much excitement on Sunday as football fans eagerly awaited for the FIFA World Cup. Due to the fact that the spectators were transformed into potato couches and were drinking cokes, the thrill for the day was beyond imagination. The amount of love and craziness expressed on social media was unfathomable.

The ultimate legend, Lionel Messi took the World Cup trophy featuring Argentina's stunning victory over France in a "final for the ages" penalty shootout.

In the series of rapid games that preceded the shootout, France rallied from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits, and both teams had chances to win. Jermaine Jenas called  this as "one of the greatest moments in football history." It was Messi's final World Cup game, when he emulated his idol Diego Maradona by receiving the most prestigious award in international football.

Shortly after Argentina won the tournament, jubilation erupted on Twitter, with numerous people showing their absolute joy at Lionel Messi's first World Cup triumph.

One of the biggest superstars were drawn to the final day's game thanks to FIFA's influence. Whether it was Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, or Norah Fateki, everyone got swept up in the game.

The breathless match saw the 35-year-old Argentine maestro score twice, and with the score level 3-3 after extra time, Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain scored the first hat-trick in a World Cup final since 1966.
