Avatar 2 Breaks All Records, Becomes Highest Grossing Hollywood Film In India

James Cameron's latest movie 'Avatar: The Way of Water' has made a worldwide collection of more than USD 2 billion. After 'Titanic' and 'Avatar', this becomes the third Cameron movie that has touched this milestone.

According to a media report, the Zoe Saldana-Sam Worthington film grossed USD 598 million domestically and USD 1.426 billion internationally. This gigantic amount puts 'Way of Water' as the film with the fourth biggest worldwide collection just after 'Avatar', 'Avengers: Endgame' and 'Titanic'.

'Avatar 2', which comes out 13 years after the original installment, is one of the most expensive films ever created. According to sources, the film cost between USD 350 and 400 million. Within 14 days of its release, the visual spectacle grossed USD 1 billion worldwide. It was the quickest film to reach such a benchmark since 'Spider Man: No Way Home' in 2021.

As per the news publications, 'Avatar 2' is also the second highest-grossing IMAX film, trailing only 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' at USD 227 million. With around USD 229 million, it is also the highest-grossing studio film of the epidemic era in China. The film was a huge hit in India, grossing Rs 386.90 crore at the box office.

Reports predict that the James Cameron magnum opus will have no challengers at the box office until mid-February and will continue its dream run.

Taran Adarsh, a movie critic tweets, "Avatar2 creates history. Emerges the highest-grossing Hollywood film in India by surpassing lifetime biz of Avengers Endgame."

Cameron reunites with Titanic's leading lady Kate Winslet after a 25-year absence. She assumes the role of Ronan, a Na'vi chieftainess.

Analysts predict that the film will continue to dominate the box office in the coming months.
