According to a Registrar of Companies filing cited by PTI news agency, Yum! Restaurants (India), the parent company of Pizza Hut India Marketing and KFC India Marketing, declared a profit of Rs 162.04 crore in the fiscal year 2024 after posting a loss of Rs 108.17 crore in FY 23.
In an open market deal earlier this year, the US-based company paid Rs 871 crore for its whole 4.4 per cent ownership in Devyani International, the operator of Quick Service Restaurants (QSR).
Yum's other income was Rs 142.11 crore in FY 24 compared to Rs 84.46 crore the previous year, while its operating revenue increased 6.6 per cent to Rs 689.93 crore.
In FY 24, Yum! Restaurant spent Rs 220.69 crore on advertising and promotions, a decrease of 3.8 per cent. During the same time period, the company's total expenses decreased by 22.16 per cent to Rs 671.33 crore.
Its cost royalty, however, rose by 14 per cent to Rs 175.10 crore. Its parent company received Rs 153.67 crore in royalties and technical licence fees in FY23. According to the terms of the agreement, Yum's franchisees contribute a specific portion of their earnings to the subsidiary businesses' advertising. Additionally, some of Yum!'s business partners contribute to the subsidiary companies' marketing, promotion, and advertising efforts.
Yum! Brands Inc., based in Kentucky, owns Yum! Restaurants (India) through Yum Asia Franchisee, based in Singapore.
