Vistas Media Capital (VMC), a Singapore-based media content and technology firm, has officially acquired Reliance Entertainment in a deal valued between Rs 700-800 crore. This marks another milestone for VMC, which has been expanding its media portfolio globally.
VMC, led by founders Abhayanand Singh and Piiyush Singh, has made headlines since 2020 with strategic investments in content and technology. The acquisition further enhances VMC's capacity to produce and distribute content, building on its success in film production, animation, digital media, and streaming platforms.
In 2020, VMC invested $5 million in Planet Marathi, acquired a majority stake in Paperboat Design Studios, and launched the first Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) from Asia. The company also co-produced notable international films such as 'The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir' and 'Son'.
Under its banner Golden Ratio Films, VMC has been instrumental in producing critically acclaimed Hindi films like 'Bhonsle' and 'JL-50', Marathi hits like 'AB Aani CD' and 'Chandramukhi', as well as Tamil co-productions such as 'Writer'. Reliance Entertainment, with a portfolio of over 300 films and 28 National Awards, has had a strong presence in distributing and syndicating films across more than 100 countries.
VMC’s acquisition of Reliance Entertainment is expected to create synergies across content creation and distribution, further boosting both companies' capacities to deliver high-quality content globally.
