The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has issued notices to 53 advertisers who have failed to pay their advertising fees, resulting in substantial revenue losses for the civic body, according to media reports. In a bid to recover the outstanding dues, MCG plans to escalate the matter to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Gurgaon Police for further investigation.
The MCG has given these agencies a two-day ultimatum to settle their payments, along with a 15 per cent penalty on the overdue fees. If the agencies fail to comply, their permission to advertise within MCG's jurisdiction will be revoked, and they will be blacklisted under the Haryana Municipal Corporation Advertisement Bye-laws.
The agencies were previously granted permission by MCG to display advertisements but they have not fulfilled their payment obligations.
An MCG official stated that if the payments are not made within the next two days, the agency will cancel the Letter of Intent (LOI) for advertising rights and refer the cases to the EOW for recovery.
The MCG also emphasised the strict penalty provisions under the Haryana Municipal Corporation Advertisement Bye-laws, 2022, which mandate the blacklisting of defaulters.
