A new social media policy has been authorised by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet today, August 28. The policy aims to control content on various platforms, such as Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube. It states that social media influencers who post about government schemes and initiatives on their platforms can make up to Rs 8 lakh a month.
The press release, which Principal Secretary Sanjay Prasad signed, said, "With the release of this policy, the residents of the state who are residing in different parts of the country and abroad will be ensured to get employment in large numbers."
According to subscribers and followers, each of X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube has been separated into four categories for listing, the statement stated.
"The category-wise maximum payout limit for payments to account holders or operators or influencers of X, Facebook, and Instagram has been fixed at Rs 5 lakh, Rs 4 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh per month respectively.
"The category-wise maximum payout limit for videos, shorts, and podcast payments on YouTube has been fixed at Rs 8 lakh, Rs 7 lakh, Rs 6 lakh and Rs 4 lakh per month, respectively," it added.
The government has designated 'V-Form,' a digital firm, to manage advertisements, per the policy.
The agency 'V-Form' will be in charge of displaying reels, posts, tweets, and videos.
Additionally, the policy offers standards for handling offensive social media postings. Anything uploaded on social media that is inflammatory, fake news, anti-social, or hostile to the country will be dealt with appropriately.
