The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has approved the merger of Vistara and Air India, according to industry reports.
With more foreign flights than any of its competitors, the Air India group will become the largest international carrier in India with this merger.
The two airlines' merger was allowed by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) in September of last year. They can now begin merging their resources, assets, and other networks following the NCLT's permission.
The synchronisation of the personnel and route networks is being worked on by consulting firms such as BCG, Sabre, and Oliver Wyman.
According to an industry report, the merger would proceed gradually because neither airline intends to cancel any flights during the process.
It's anticipated that about 7000 Vistara workers will move to Air India to take up new roles. Te transfer is scheduled to happen in June.
