Twitter Demotes Journalists Who Report About Elon Musk

On Thursday, Twitter blocked the accounts of journalists of The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, and other outlets that reported about the platform and its owner Elon Musk.

Musk tweeted in reaction to the event. He said, “Same doxxing rules apply to ‘journalists’ as to everyone else.” According to a Reuters report, doxxing is a reference to Twitter rules banning the sharing of personal information.”

Disclosure of a person's identify, address, or other personal information is referred to as "doxxing."

Musk stated in a previous tweet that any account doxxing another person's current location will be suspended since it violates their physical safety.

On Wednesday, Twitter modified its policies to make it illegal to share someone else's present location without that person's permission.

Several of the journalists who were dismissed on Thursday night were writing about the new rule and Musk's justification for it, which featured his claims that his family was the target of a stalking event on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.

Musk tweeted, “Same doxxing rules apply to 'journalists' as to everyone else.”
