A report on the food preferences of 70 million Indian moviegoers at INOX in 2022 was just released by INOX Leisure. The Cinema Food Report is based on the food consumption patterns of moviegoers in 167 INOX theatres spread across 74 Indian cities.
The report is an accurate portrayal of interesting food consumption patterns, lifestyle choices, and behavioural trends in real India from a year that marked a reversal in the movie theatre business.
Commenting on the report, Alok Tandon, CEO, INOX Leisure said that it gives him great pleasure to share the first edition of Cinema Food Report 2022, which examines the food preferences of 70 million Indian moviegoers at INOX in 2022. When Indians dine at theatres, it is a sight to behold since it brings together two of their passions: watching movies and dining out.
He further said that the movie theatre food report offers some helpful insights that will enable us to provide better service to the customers. These intriguing findings highlight the depth and range of our menu options as well as the level of effort made by their teams across India to please our customers. They have been elevating the culinary story to newer heights through constant innovations, re-engineering of offers, and a strong intention to serve and delight, and this study is the perfect testament to that.
The report pondered upon the fact that INOX handled 29 digital food and beverage transactions each minute of the year. This demonstrates how enthusiastically Indians have embraced the concepts of "Digital India" and cashless transactions.
In 2022, Indian moviegoers ate a remarkable 863 metric tonnes of popcorn. Not just that in 2022, Indians purchased 19.38 lakh samosas, or enough to comfortably travel 197 kilometres, or, if combined, the distance between Mumbai and Valsad.
It also highlighted that INOX went above and beyond to make these events very memorable. For cinema enthusiasts, 18 occasion-based unique meal menus were created. INOX made sure that it maintained the flavour of the season, regardless of Navratri, the monsoon season, or the T20 Cricket World Cup.
